What is Interdisciplinary Studies? Better yet what is the result of it?
Interdisciplinary work essentially requires and ends in integration. Having multiple tools, theories, ideas, and knowledge does not entirely define interdisciplinary work without integrating them. Like Myra Strober illustrated, if peas and carrots are made into a salad that is simply a multidiscipline view. Using two disciplines to illustrate a topic. If we blend these vegetables together, the result will be something new. A new matter is revealed. That is integration expanding in innovation.
Interdisciplinary work is about integrating and listening to various disciplines to innovate a solution that will reduce the possible number of mistakes. Therefore, disciplines or specializing should not be disregarded, neither should interdisciplinarity be uplifted as the only solution to our complex problems.
Interdisciplinarians should possess entrepreneurship, passion for learning, self-reflection, and intellectual courage. Their thinking capacity must involve abstract and creative thinking. I seek to better the traits of an entrepreneurship by allowing to take risks and courage to seek opportunities. For example, a oppurtunity I seek and long to fulfill is to study abroad. Studying abroad among a pandemic seems strange and terrifying. Still, I should not let it from planning an experience before commencement. Failure to plan is planning to fail. Which leads me to start planning somewhere, if I do not that leaves me in the same place and an unsuccesful entrepreneur.
